Northern Young Artists aims to support emerging artists by creating opportunities, advertising those already available through our network and aid those with ideas for projects of their own.   We create opportunities for artists to exhibit their work through our open exhibitions via submission.  We also source spaces and opportunities for individuals to exercise their own concepts.  We regularly meet to discuss new opportunities and explore further potentials for the group, such as workshops.  We have a strong relationship with local authorities, arts and creative organisations. We are always looking to forge new relationships and explore new avenues of creativity.

We use the term ‘young’ to describe someone’s practice, not their age. There is no exclusion from the group based on ones age. Nor are people excluded from the group for not being northern. But the group was started by northern, young, artists; hence the group’s name.

Northern Young Artists are a group of contemporary, creative and motivated individuals based in the north of England. We are each practising artists and understand the importance and benefit of having support in place to influence your practice. We want to aid creative processes, be a source of information and bring people together to generate interesting and inspirational projects.

Northern Young Artists was set up in 2008 as a support system to help artists who had recently graduated. The group was established to emulate the support network in place during university; the aim was to build a local group of artists who support each other through, dialogue, critique and diversity.

We are continuously building our network of organisations, artists and designers so if you’re interested in supporting or being part of what we do, don’t hesitate to get in touch.  You can contact us by completing the form on our Contact Us page.
